It appears Governor JB Pritzker will be toning down the Governor’s Day event at the State Fair next week.
Last year, in the closing months of Pritzker’s re-election bid, the billionaire Governor spent in excess of $300,000 to bring in country star Chris Young for a concert at the State Fair.
We’re told this year’s Governor’s Day, scheduled for August 16, will be scaled down. A spokesperson for Pritzker’s campaign arm says the rally will contain speeches by statewide elected Democrats and a performance by a “local Springfield musical band.”
“Supporting local talent,” the spokesperson said.
The Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association will hold its annual brunch that morning and will feature Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada.
Republicans are scheduled for the next day, August 17. RNC Co-Chair Drew McKissick, Congressman Darin LaHood, GOP Leaders Rep. Tony McCombie & Sen. John Curran, and Supreme Court Justice Lisa Holder White are scheduled to speak at their event.
