After The Illinoize reported Tuesday that Congressman Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) and allies were recruiting a primary candidate against Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) for his support of Davis’ primary opponent, Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-Oakland), we received an unsolicited quote attributed to Miller’s husband, Rep. Chris Miller.

“Never-Trumper Rodney Davis is looking for RINO candidates to run against every pro-life, pro-gun Republicans who supported Trump. Conservative Republicans will defeat liberals like Rodney Davis who stabbed President Trump in the back. The America First movement will not back down to the RINO establishment - we will defeat any and all liberal RINOs Rodney Davis recruits.”

He describes Davis by using the terms “RINO” (Republican in Name Only) three times, “liberals” twice, and “Never Trumper” once. In two sentences.

Davis has a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee, 99% from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 88% from the Heritage Foundation, and has been repeatedly endorsed by the NRA and Farm Bureau.

If the Miller campaign’s only line of attack is to call Davis the Taylorville Nancy Pelosi, Davis will likely drown Miller’s campaign with its financial advantage.

But it’s obvious the Miller and Davis primary is going to be messy.
