Pritzker Launching First 2022 TV Ads Nearly 500 Days Before General Election
473 days before the 2022 general election, Governor JB Pritzker is launching television ads, beginning this weekend.
His campaign released three ads Friday (here, here, and here) highlighting the stories of a nurse, National Guardsmen, and business owners. Pritzker narrates the ads that focus on first responders, the National Guard response to COVID-19, and distillery owners who began making hand sanitizer at the height of the pandemic.
It goes along with Pritzker’s announcement Monday that he was seeking a second term. The message of the video announcement focused solely on the state’s response to COVID-19.
Pritzker’s campaign confirmed to The Illinoize the ad buy is on broadcast stations statewide. Publicly available data shows Pritzker’s ads running in the Chicago area beginning Sunday, through August 2. Ads in Peoria/Bloomington and Champaign/Decatur/Springfield start Monday and run through August 2.
Pritzker, a billionaire, gave his campaign $35 million earlier this year. The campaign filed with $32 million cash on hand as of June 30. No Republican opponent has more than $500,000 cash on hand.
