Pritzker Brushes Off 2026 Question

Governor JB Pritzker was asked Tuesday if he is considering running for a third term in 2026.
Pritzker, who overwhelmingly won a second term over Republican Darren Bailey in 2022, didn’t take the bait.
“I honestly don’t have an answer for you. I’m a year and a quarter into this term and I love the job and working very hard,” he said. “We’ve had some real success. I’m enjoying it. I’ll stay where I’m at for the time being.”
If Pritzker did win a third term in 2026, he would be the first Governor to win a third four-year term since Jim Thompson in 1986.
Pritzker is heavily rumored to be angling for a run for President in 2028 and has been a top surrogate for President Biden during the Democratic primary campaign. He has also raised his national profile by forming and funding a pro-abortion rights political action committee.
His name has also been mentioned as a potential cabinet appointment if President Biden wins a second term.
