Rep. Mike Marron (R-Fithian) confirmed our report from last week that he will resign from the House to join Vermilion County’s economic development agency.

In a statement yesterday, Marron said he would begin his role as CEO/President of Vermilion Advantage on December 18.

Marron already announced in July he wouldn’t be seeking re-election.

“My new position is nonpartisan, and I am therefore removing myself from all political activity,” Marron said in a statement. “I look forward to working with all elected officials, on all levels, from both parties to bring new opportunities to Vermilion County.”

Marron didn’t announce his resignation date, but if he resigns December 15th, that would give local party leaders a full month to choose a replacement before the General Assembly returns to Springfield in mid-January.
