Indicted Sen. Terry Link Resigns

Sen. Terry Link (R-Waukegan), facing a federal indictment, is resigning from the Illinois Senate, effective Saturday.

State Senator Terry Link (D-Vernon Hills), facing federal tax evasion charges, has formally submitted his resignation to the Senate.

His resignation, filed Friday, is effective Saturday morning.

He has already resigned as Chairman of the Lake County Democratic Party, so he won’t have the opportunity to choose his replacement. Link, 73, has served in the Senate since 1997.

He was the fourth legislator under indictment during the 101st General Assembly. All four are Democrats.
