Garcia, Casten, Davis, Foster All Win Chicago-area Congressional Primaries

Congressman Danny Davis (D-Chicago) celebrates with supporters Tuesday night after winning a five-way primary to likely capture his 15th term in Congress.

Here are the results as of Wednesday afternoon in other congressional races around Illinois:

4th Congressional District

Congressman Jesus Chuy Garcia (D-Chicago) easily defeated Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez.

6th Congressional District

Congressman Sean Casten (D-Downers Grove) handily defeated a challenge from his Mahnoor Ahmad, who was challenging Casten from the left.

7th Congressional District

83-year-old Congressman Danny Davis (D-Chicago) held on to likely win his 15th term in Congress defeating four challengers, including Chicago City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin and progressive Kina Collins.

11th Congressional District

Congressman Bill Foster (D-Naperville) beat back a challenge from the left. He’ll face Republican Jerry Evans in November, who won a three-way primary in this safe Democratic district.

17th Congressional District

Recently retired Winnebago County Judge Joe McGraw won the Republican primary over farmer Scott Crowl. McGraw will face freshman Congressman Eric Sorensen (D-Moline) in what is expected to be the only real competitive congressional race in Illinois this November.
